Directors can live anywhere in the world but must have a love of storytelling and support our motto of "Giving Everyone a Voice" Directors are expected to assist with fundraising and to attend RPM events and activities when possible. Now accepting applications for AARP Foundation Senior Volunteer Program
RPM and the Keweenaw Storytelling Center is a registered site for the AARP Senior Volunteer Program. This is a program through the AARP Foundation. Participants volunteer with us for 20 hours per week in exchange for training and experience while seeking full-time employment. Volunteers are paid a stipend for their participation in the program. This stipend is equivalent to minimum wage. Participants must be over 55, low income and unemployed but seeking full-time employment. Physical Requirements:
Per AARP Foundation requirements, volunteers must refrain from lifting over 25 pounds nor be asked to stand on ladders, etc.
Dress Code:
RPM maintains a dress code for staff and volunteers to promote a productive and safe work environment and to maintain Real People Media's public image. This means no inappropriate hairstyles, jewelry or clothing are allowed. Interns are required to be in approved dress code at all times while on duty, which includes the wearing of proper footwear.
Supervision:
Volunteers work under the direction of the Executive Director or Board Approved Individual.

Gallery Assistant
Scope of Duties:
This position serves visitors to the Keweenaw Storytelling Center in Calumet, Michigan. The Volunteer is responsible for greeting visitors to exhibits, for ticket and merchandise sales and for assisting at our events: Voice Box Sessions, music jams and classes.

Monday through Friday 11 - 3pm. The location for this position is the Keweenaw Storytelling Center in downtown Calumet. The work schedule is set in advance and is subject to change depending on operational needs. The volunteer may be asked to work evenings, holidays, and/or weekends as needs dictate.
Scope of Duties:
This position serves visitors to the Keweenaw Storytelling Center in Calumet, Michigan. The Volunteer is responsible for greeting visitors to exhibits, for ticket and merchandise sales and for assisting at our events: Voice Box Sessions, music jams and classes.
Responsibilities:
- Greeting visitors and providing an enjoyable and educational experience.
- Creating and implementing weekly storytelling themes and activities for visitors to enjoy.
- Care and cleanup of the Exhibit Space as well as Art/Storytelling Studio, including inventorying supplies, requesting new supplies in a timely manner, and prudent use of supplies.
- Interact and inspire visitors of all ages to participate in daily programs.
- Participate in our Voice Box Sessions, music jams, and any other events as required.
- Assist in RPM marketing including Posting to our social media sites
- Other duties as directed.

Video/Audio Production Volunteer

Additional scope of duties of video/audio production intern include:
- videotaping and editing RPM Voice Box Sessions
- assisting with audio and video production courses
- Helping to create the RPM weekly podcast
- uploading audio/video content to the internet.
- Must be 55 or older, low income, unemployed but looking for a job.
- Must have an interest in storytelling and be dedicated to public engagement and education.
- Must be outgoing, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and have good public speaking skills.
- Experience with or interest in learning art programming is strongly recommended.

Building Maintenance and General Carpentry
This volunteer will help oversee the daily maintenance of the building including general jantorial duties of sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning windows, etc. In addition the individual will help with exhibit construction.

- Must have an interest in learning general carpentry and the using of general carpentry tools (jig saw, hammer, power drill etc.)
