Once upon a Time:  The Visual Storyteller
July 2 - September 2 (Reception and award presentation. Sunday, July 2)

Real People Media invites the community to the opening reception of “Once Upon a Time,” a visual art exhibit in which artists depict personal stories or their favorite fairytale.  A variety of styles and mediums are represented in the 24 paintings by professional artists: Joani Braun (Elk Rapids), Jerry Douglas, (Boyne City) Trisha Shattuck (Petoskey), Kathy Jones (Midland) and Margie Guyot (Eastport). The exhibit will run through Labor Day Weekend.

Come discover the stories behind Margie Guyot's fanciful oil painting with flying dogs, the large abstract “Sienna” by Trisha Shattuck, Kathy Jone's interpretation of the well-known fable, “Jack and the Bean Stalk,” and many others.  Artists will be present to answer questions and provide interpretation.  Written statements will also accompany each painting.  The free reception, appropriate for the entire family, is from 5:30-7:00pm on Sunday, July 2.  Immediately following is RPM's Voice Box Session with singer-songwriter Jenny Thomas. The concert is from 7-8pm and open mic from 8-9pm. A free will donation is appreciated at the concert.

The exhibit and concert is held at the Cycling Salamander Gallery located south of Charlevoix on U.S. 31.  Concert seating is limited and guests are encouraged to RSVP to reserve their seat at (23) 838-6460.
