A community wide art exhibit which shares life in the Keweenaw Peninsula during the COVID 19 pandemic.
This is a unique moment in history as people in the copper country and around the world respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. How has this pandemic affected your life and/or the life of your family and friends?
Real People Media invites the community to share their personal stories through any artistic medium: drawings, paintings, photography, writings, short videos, animations, music, installation, etc. Work must have been created during or as a result of the pandemic.
We're not looking for award-winning art, we're looking for work which shares people's thoughts, feelings, and activities during the pandemic. Artists of all ages and ability who reside in Copper Country are encouraged to participate. (Residents of Keweenaw, Houghton, Baraga, and Ontonagon Counties)
Why is this Important?
Storytelling allows us to understand and build connections between members of our community. For some, the COVID-19 pandemic will be an opportunity to reconnect with family members, learn a new skill, or read a few good books. For others, the stay at home order will mean, skipped meals, loss of a job and income, and even loss of a loved one. This global pandemic has alerted us to how we impact and are impacted by others around the globe. Sharing your story will help us understand our current lived experience and the affects and repercussions of individual and governmental actions.
