Travel back in time to the early 1900s when Calumet, known then as Red Jacket, was a thriving mining town.  We'll visit iconic locations within the village and hear stories about the people who use to live and work here.
(This is a walking tour and we'll be walking the length of 5th and 6th street Calumet. Walking shoes recommended)

Industrial Calumet.
Monday through Saturday 11:30 & 3pm; Sun.3pm

We'll visit industrial sites and buildings constructed by the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company.  You'll learn how this company under the leadership of Alexander Agassiz became the largest Copper Mining Company in the world and how it shaped Calumet and the surrounding area.  Tour participants will gain a general knowledge of the Copper Mining process.  Participants should be prepared to walk for the duration of the 50 minute tour.

What People are Saying.

"The Red Jacket Jamboree is blending the unique history of Michigan's mining era with the equally unique and historical format of an Old-time Radio show and in doing so, is preserving two very important traditions.
Thanks!"   Jenifer Strauss, Storyteller
