Animating the Copper Country - an ongoing program of RPM.
A community led project bringing to life stories and history from
Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula
Using cut paper and the art of stop-motion animation, participants will bring Copper Country stories and history to life. Participants may animate their own story or that of a Copper Country historical figure like Ana (Big Annie) Klobuchar-Clemenc or Alexander Agassiz. Animations will be shared with the public through an in person exhibit at the KSC and through an online animation showing. This program was made possible with funding from the Michigan Humanities Council. Participants consent to having their photos taken for publicity purposes and if possible are asked to attend the film showing later in the summer. Animation is a simple process but time-consuming. Participants will need to attend a full workshop period to complete tasks. Adult participants may also be eligible to work at home. Open studio will be available for those needing extra time to complete their projects. Participants may work on individual an individual or group project. Allen Shares his story.(Work in progress)
Allen sat down with RPM Executive Director to share his story. Allen's story was then shared with animators, Alex Thomas and friends who animated the story to his words. This project is not yet complete as we'll be cleaning up audio and adding a music bed. |
